Challenge Details & Description
Date & Time: April 21st to May 23rd
Venue: 40th Street & Broadway
An experiment in high-performance building design and construction
The #IceBoxChallengeNYC is a contest and a public science experiment to demonstrate how a home can be super energy efficient AND comfortable. The Ice Boxes are left outside in the sun for a month. When they are opened, the amount of ice left in each box will be measured. How much ice is left shows how well each Ice Box keeps out the summer heat.
Will you join us?
While the two boxes will have information on the challenge, we still need volunteers to engage with curious fellow on-lookers! Interested volunteers will only have to commit to a session of 1.5 hours, and help us with the following –
- Tell people about the Ice Box challenge and encourage them to participate
- Introduce them to the Passive House Standard
- Have fun in the sun, and connect with like-minded professionals
You can sign up to volunteer, and select the session that works best for your schedule via this form. For more information, feel free to reach out to education@nypassivehouse.org.
