Established in 2014 by the New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA)’s Committee on the Environment (COTE), the COTE program seeks to provide a collective resource to all firms looking to achieve socially and environmentally responsible design. Climate change, political stability, energy and water independence, and human health are all responsibilities of the design community.  Modeled on the COTE National Awards, the AIANY COTE Awards further sustainable design, make transparent lessons learned, and reveal the process behind innovation in an urban context. The awards promote greater understanding of design strategies that reveal and inspire new materials, technologies, and design solutions.

On November 11th, 2015, AIANY COTE announced the winners of the second annual AIANY COTE Awards competition. Three submissions were selected from projects located within a 200-mile radius from Central Park.

Passive House took center stage in the AIANY COTE Awards, demonstrating yet again the award-winning design and functionality achievable only through the rigorous international Passive House standard. Join NYPH in congratulating our community members on a job well done!
