I’m thrilled to share that Governor Hochul announced today that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) approved New York’s partial-scope application for the DOE’s Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) Program formula grant funding, making New York the FIRST state in the country to have secured funds under this program. This initial funding, expected to be available in early summer, will help expand the NYSERDA EmPower+ program, ensuring more low-income NYers can benefit and making it more affordable to complete energy-efficient upgrades to their homes.

NYSERDA plans to submit a full-scope application to the DOE to enable rebate offers to moderate-income residents and owners of larger low- and moderate-income multifamily buildings, including high-efficiency appliance rebates once approved.

I am so proud of our NYSERDA team that has gone above and beyond over the past few months to make today’s announcement possible with more to come in 2024!
