C+GA’s Karla Gutierrez RA, CPHC®, Seo Choi, and Shreejit Modak attended the Climate Ready Buildings Training by Building Energy Exchange. This training educates affordable housing project teams on how to design and construct high performance buildings that are resilient to the increasing pressure of climate change and align with NY’s climate goals.
Steven Winter Associates and the NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development presented at the event, using C+GA’s Beach Green Dunes as an example of building form optimization. Along with its highly insulated and thoroughly sealed building envelope, the design incorporates storm resiliency features and includes cogeneration, an extremely efficient variable refrigerant flow (VRF) heating and cooling system, and an array of photovoltaic panels.
