Mission Statement: The JEDI working group at New York Passive House is dedicated to fostering an environment that promotes justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion within the organization and the broader industry. Our mission is to ensure that all voices are heard and valued, and that our initiatives reflect the diverse perspectives of those we serve.
Updates:
One of JEDI’s goals is to collaborate with other industry groups that share JEDI’s mission. The JEDI working group has connected with the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA). They are interested in sustainability and developing construction experience for architects and junior staff members. JEDI is collaborating with them by sharing opportunities about building tours, extending invitations to NOMA members and NYPH members.
JEDI is also promoting financial incentives offered by the Passive House Network (PHN) for various groups pursuing CPHD training. This includes financial support for BIPOC professionals, students, seniors, veterans, and others, with the goal of reducing financial barriers and expanding inclusion. Moreover, JEDI is joining bi-monthly calls with PHN’s DEI committee to discuss ongoing collaboration efforts, such as mentorship opportunities for newly trained CPHDs.
JEDI is also focusing on promoting DEI within NYPH. Our group is currently forming guidelines for open calls for speakers, improving accessibility on the NYPH website and at events, and creating opportunities for members to nominate a monthly spotlight to highlight individuals or projects contributing to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
