Come join NYPH and Urban Green Council on our first Gingerbread Passive House competition and show off your building skills! Urban Green Council and New York Passive House members are encouraged to form teams to create the ultimate passive house structure… made of gingerbread. Illustrate Passive House principles using only edible materials typically used in gingerbread houses (think: spreadable marshmallow as insulation). This will be a fun event whether you are a Passive House (or gingerbread house) expert or novice.
How will this work?
• Teams (maximum of four people) will be provided with a basic gingerbread house kit to build a gingerbread house with visible passive house details.
• Each team will be given 30 minutes to complete their designs and 3 minutes to explain their approach. Of course, a gingerbread house will not pass a blower door test, but it will be expected to avoid thermal bridges!
• Points will be awarded for accuracy, creativity, and presentation. Participants are encouraged to bring their leftover candies and other edible gingerbread-making components.
Who can participate?
Anyone who would like to test their gingerbread-passive-house building skills!
