This presentation will discuss some of the main challenges Passive House modelers face with our current tooling, and how advancements in technology are helping to overcome many of those issues. Specifically, we will look in some depth at the free and open-source Honeybee-PH software toolkit, and how it can be used to resolve many common modeling issues and challenges Passive House teams face on a day to day basis. We will discuss best-practices when it comes to model input-data management, and how we can use new technologies like cloud-based database tools to successfully reduce complexity and errors in our Passive House models while enhancing reusability. We will finish by looking at some exciting new tools and future trends which are made possible by cloud computing and demonstrate some exciting nascent software solutions that will help Passive House modelers as the community moves into bigger and more complex buildings.
