An in-depth look at the operational and embodied carbon impacts of multiple affordable housing projects in New York City, presented by Curtis + Ginsberg Architects. Architect Mark Ginsberg and Crystal Ng will analyze developments designed to Passive House standards including Beach Green Dunes I and II in the Rockaways and Park Avenue Green in the Bronx. Through a comparison of structural systems, mechanical strategies, and evolving codes and incentives, the session will explore how different design choices impact energy use, resident comfort, and long-term maintenance. Key takeaways will include practical lessons on system selection, the importance of resident education, and why electrification and envelope performance often matter more than premium HVAC systems. Don’t miss this opportunity to understand what truly drives low-carbon, resilient, and livable affordable housing.
