C+GA’s Director of Sustainability Crystal Ng spent the past year as a Rewire Fellow in the Urban Design Forum’s Green Homes working group!

The result: Five Visions for Building Climate Positive Neighborhoods, a publication that compiles research, case studies, policy recommendations, and pilot ideas from 48 civic leaders, offering a blueprint to transform NYC’s built environment into an engine for climate action.

The Green Homes team—a dedicated group of planners, advocates, architects, and engineers—devoted their time to understanding the barriers to decarbonizing small-scale housing stock and developing innovative ideas to accelerate decarbonization efforts, while improving resident health.

Their efforts culminated last week at the Rewire Ideas Launch & Conversation, where the Fellows presented and discussed their ideas with policy makers, practitioners, government officials, and utility providers. The collaborative discussion focused on strategies to create resilient communities, decarbonize our small-scale housing stock, and create healthier living environments for NYC communities by empowering neighborhood organizations to scale energy retrofits.
